Jr. Eagles earn their wings, stops Clearfield

WINGATE – The Bald Eagle junior high girls took the prime time spot Thursday night as they went head-to-head with a fiesty Clearfield team in soccer action.
Despite a very busy back and forth high tempo game, the Eagles took two goals in the first half and held on in the second half for the 2-1 victory.
In the first half, the Eagles got the first advantage after taking the possession. With 25:38 showing on the clock, Emily Shiels broke free on a breakaway and past the last line of defense and then sent one past the Bison goal.
The two engaged Ina back-and-forth battle of possessions for most of the period.
However, with only five minutes left, Sierra Surovec got a goal as she battled through the middle of the crowded back-third, upping the lead to 2-0 as the two teams went into the intermission.
Bald Eagle needed that extra goal as Clearfield punched in one at the beginning of the period.
