Juniata and East Juniata track teams split Tuesday’s Meet

COCOLAMUS — As it is usually expected when it is an East Juniata versus Juniata matchup in any sport. It is extremely competitive. This track and field meet was no different with East Juniata and Juniata had split between the boys and girls team on Tuesday,

On the girls side of things, Juniata came out on top over the Tigers, 74-65.

One of the highlights on the girls side for the Indians was Amelia Smith who was apart of the 4×100 relay team that took first place and also had won in the 300 hurdles with a time of 53.9 seconds.

For the boys, the Tigers took care of business and defeated Juniata 81-59.

The Tigers were led by the duo of senior Jake Brackbill and Kory Graham who showcased a friendly rivalry throughout the meet. Both Brackbill and Graham looked to one up each other in multiple events.

It was Brackbill though who placed first in the shot put event with a season high of 43 feet and ten and a half inches. Brackbill also won the discus as well and finished by going 128 feet and ten and half inches.

Although Graham placed second behind Brackbill in both events. It wasn’t by much as Graham threw 126 feet and 10 inches in the discus. Graham was even closer in the shot put against Brackbill and threw for 43 feet and seven inches which was a career personal best for him.

Juniata also found some personal bests on the boys side as well with Connor Boreman who got his new personal best in the 100 meter dash event and hustled his way to the finish line in 11.9
seconds. Boreman also placed in the triple and long jump events as well.

St. Joe’s also competed with both East Juniata and Juniata at the meet. The Lady Wolfpack placed first in both the 4×400 and 4×800 relays.

East Juniata will travel to compete at Tulpehocken on Friday. St. Joe’s will be coming at the Lady Spartans Invitational in Latrobe. Juniata will also be on the road and will travel to Greenwood on Monday.
