Juniata boys hold onto two point win over East Juniata boys

MIFFLINTOWN – The rivalry lived up to the hype.

As the East Juniata boys faced off against rival Juniata, the two added yet another chapter in the longtime rivalry as the Indians came out the winners of a 58-56 cliffhanger.

Juniata was led by Bryson Clark with 25 points while Devon Nealman added 15.

East Juniata’s Wayne Dressler finished with 16 and teammate Xavier Clement had 15.

Rounding out the double-digit scoring was Evan Reichenbach with 12.

The game started out at a slow pace as the Indians outscored the Tigers only by a score of 8-5.

Nealman has six of his teams eight points while East Juniata was led by three with Logan Wagner.

Juniata added to its lead in the second quarter outscoring East Juniata 20-15, taking a 28-20 lead into the intermission. 

Clark was on fire for Juniata as he scored 14 points in the period. Four of those were from beyond the 3-point line.

East Juniata’s tried to counter with Dressler’s seven points.

But the momentum changed in the third as the East Juniata offense started to sizzle, outscoring Juniata 16-15.

Xavier Clement had six while Dressler had five.

Clark once again led the way, tallying five.

Juniata still had a 43-36 going into final stanza.

Things started to tighten up in the fourth as East Juniata was able to tally 20 and held Juniata to 15.

But it was too little too late as Juniata took the victory.

But it wasn’t before the Tigers got strong offensive efforts by seven by Clement.

Juniata held on thanks in part to six more by Clark.

In the JV contest, Juniata took the contest 49-30. East Juniata’s high scorer was Ethan Roe with nine.
