Juniata wrestlers outlasts UD in one-point thriller
The Juniata wrestling team escape successfully in a Wednesday night TVAA thriller, winning 32-31 over Upper Dauphin.
Starting the contest at 285, the Indians Kelton Bonnell won by pin over Mykhael Latshaw at 5:31.
There was a double Forfeit at 107.
At 114, the Indians notched another victory as Anthony Maradiaga won by pin over Wyatt Kassirer at 5:06.
Upper Dauphin captured the 121-pound weight class when Jonah Peterson pinned Joseph Bomberger at 3:04.
At 127, Upper Dauphin added to its lead as Jordan Myers took the forfeit.
133-pounder Colten Rowles stopped the Upper Dauphin consecutive streak when he took a major decision win over Jordan Pieffer 9-0.
But the winning continued for UD at 139. Jeffrey Teeter won by an 8-0 major over Ty Fahnstock.
The Indians added to its point total at 145 Ryder Smith pinned Benjamin Engle at 0:43.
At 152, Upper Dauphin’s Peyton Ratcliffe pinned Jerry Cordova at 1:14.
Upper Dauphin captured a win at 160. Carter Dreibelbis won by fall over Charlie Telfer at 1:33.
With the pressure building at 172, the Indians’ Javier Lopez brought home a major decision over Wyatt Troutman 16-6.
At 189, Juniata’s Harrison Mummah was clutch under pressure winning by fall over Luke Wentzel at 1:17.
Rounding out the contest at 215: Upper Dauphins’ Eoghan Savage squeaked past Lane Peiper 4-3.
