Kish Indians win Freedom Bowl; defeats Burnham Bulldogs

LEWISTOWN – A big second quarter and solid defense was enough to carry the Kish Indians to defeat the Burnham Bulldogs and take the Pee Wee  Freedom Bowl football trophy Saturday afternoon at Mitchell Field.
For the majority of the first quarter, the Burnham Bulldogs controlled the possession of the ball with having a long but steady pace towards the end zone. However, the Kish defense came through in the end and forced a turnover on downs near the end of the first.
Things finally got going offensively in the second quarter as a few minutes in the frame, Kish running back Clayton Fultz took the hand off and powered his way for the touchdown to complete the 60 yard run. But the Indians failed to get the extra point leaving the game 6-0.
Then with just under two minutes to play, Kish went on another big run. This time it was Sawyer Albert who broke out on 40 yard run all the way home and then Albert found Fultz in the end zone on a pass play to get the two point conversation making it 14-0.
With the second quarter winding down, Albert again made a big play. With 16 seconds left in the quarter, Albert made a 35 yard pass over to JJ Nail who took the ball to the house for the score. Fultz then ran in to score the extra point giving Kish a 21-0 lead.
The third quarter was very similar to the opening quarter of the game for Burnham as the Bulldogs controlled possession of the ball for most of the frame. However once they had gotten to the goal line, the Kish defense stepped up big again and held them off and preventing a score to happen.
However, the Kish offense got to start the fourth quarter with their backs near the end zone. Within the first ten seconds of the quarter, Burnham finally got on the scoreboard and scored a safety.
Then on the return, Luke Wise made a mad dash for Burnham and made it to the red zone. But once again the Kish defense came up with a big play as the next play after the return, Kish forced a fumble and made the recover and then eventually run the clock to zero to pick up the win.
Congrats to both teams for an amazing season.
