Mifflin County boys XC team places 8th in Mid-Penn Championships

The Mifflin County boys ’ cross country team placed 8th at the Mid Penn Conference Championship AAA race in Newville on Saturday. Lead by sophomore Caden Bell’s 30th place finish (17:42), the Huskies pushed their next four scoring runners across the finish line in just over a minute. CJ Coffey 42nd (17:54), Chris Royer 49th (18:08), Cody Fultz 63rd (18:45) and Ben Hartzler 64 (18:46) rounded out the MC scorers. Luke Breneman 67th (18:59) and Maxwell Laudermilch 85 (19:43) aided the varsity cause.

The champion meet races the A, AA, and AAA teams altogether and then scores according to each school’s classification. This adds to the quality and competitiveness of the meet.

“The boys turned things up another notch today.  The course has a lot of rolling hills which adds to the challenge of racing 5000 meters,” said Mifflin County coach Greg Loht. “They executed the race plan perfectly and managed to jump ahead of our pre-race rank in a tough 17 team field.”
