Lady Eagles defense tough once again, shuts out PO

PHILIPSBURG – The Bald Eagle girls soccer team traveled to Monday to Philipsburg to take on a scrappy Mounties team looking for the upset.

But the Lady Eagles were up for the task, using its fierce defense along with lock-down goalie Angie Grieb to take a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

Bald Eagle Area outshot Philipsburg-Osceola 11-2 while holding the edge in corners by a 3-2.

The defense gave up very little in the way of chances tonight and Angie made a clutch save in the second half to keep the lead,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Jared Moore. “The midfield was very strong tonight, creating many chances. The Hacker sisters controlled the middle of the field well tonight.”

Grieb tallied two saves.

Alex Hacker scored the game’s only goal thanks to an assist by Adrienne Hacker at 5:51.

BEA upped its record to 9-3 overall and 6-3 in Mountain League  action.

The Eagles next game is October 8th versus Clearfield.
