Lady Eagles take contest over Huskies in six

After the comeback win Thursday against Penns Valley, the Bald Eagle softball team had to do battle with a tough MIfflin County team that just came off a 13-2 win over Altoona.

The game would go six before the game would end in favor of the Eagles, 11-1.

Bald Eagle roped 14 hits on the night while the Eagles pitching limited the high scoring Huskies offense to only two hits.

Katelyn Smitchko picked up the victory as she went four innings with four strikeouts.

Picking up the loss for the Lady Huskies was Devanie Condrack.

Leading the Bald Eagle Area offense was Makena Baney and Mara Hockenberry both finished with three hits each.

Teammates Maegan King, Ava Stere and Madison Eckley each had two hits of their own.

Stere also finished with three RBIs.

Both MIfflin County hits were from the bat of Alyssa Souders.

Things started strong for the Lady Eagles as they posted three runs in the first, two in the second and one in the third, taking a strong 6-0 advantage.

In the fifth, the Eagles added some insurance runs, making it an 8-0 advantage.

But the Huskies refused to go away without a fight as they punched in a run in the top of the sixth before Bald Eagle pushed three runs in the bottom of the inning to take the 11-1 victory.
