Lady Patriots hold dedication
YEAGERTOWN – Lady Patriots 1, Mother Nature 0.
Despite the recent flooding in Mifflin County and specifically to the Lady Patriots Softball field in Yeagertown, the group of dedicated parents and coaches have rebuilt and reclaimed their softball field. Today opened with all to see the fruits of their labor.
With all eyes of the state softball traveling teams focused on Mifflin County and the Steve Benner Memorial Tournament, most would not even know that just weeks before most would have to swim to first base.
To officially open this year’s tournament, the Lady Patriots and coach Craig Bubb held a rededication for the sports complex along with its yearly annual first pitch.
The proceeds from the Benner tournament came in handy this season as the group had to use some of the funds to fix all the damage that had been done to the field during Mother Natures romp through Central Pennsylvania.
This year, former Lady Patriot Dani Treaster tossed the first pitch to the last remaining orginal Lady Patriot player Courtney Bubb.
Treaster was a member of the last state championship winning team back in 2012.
Also honored was former coach Dale “Pap” Pollock.
In the first game at the field, the Lady Patriot went head-to-head against Mifflin County friendly rival the High Intensity.
