Lady Raiders fall to Heartland leader Central Mountain

Despite a 5-run deficit in the fifth inning, the Bellefonte Lady Raiders almost battled their way back into the contest, eventually falling 8-7 to Central Mountain on Monday.  Bellefonte scored seven runs in the failed comeback on a grand slam by Maria Cotter in the fifth, a double by Cotter in the sixth, and a error in the sixth.

The Lady Raiders were right in it until the Wildcats’ seventh inning.

The Lady Raiders notched four runs in the fifth inning.  Cotter had an RBI grand slam in the inning to lead the run scoring.

Adalynn McKeague got the win for Central Mountain. The ace hurler surrendered three runs on four hits over two innings, striking out one and walking none.

Alaina Smith took the loss for the Lady Raiders. She went seven innings, allowing eight runs on ten hits and striking out four.

Allison Lininger started the game for the Wildcats. Lininger allowed six hits and four runs over five innings, striking out four

Bellefonte launched one home run on the day. Cotter went yard in the fifth inning. She also had a double and five RBIs to cap the contest.

The Lady Raiders racked up ten hits on the day.  Emma Shawley, Sienna Barnhart, and Cotter all collected multiple hits for Bellefonte. Shawley went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Raiders in hits.

Central Mountain collected ten hits on the day.  Madisyn Wian, Gracie Saar, and Caitlyn Watson all managed multiple hits for Central Mountain.  Wian led the Wildcats with three hits in four at bats.
