Late Tuesday result: Mount Union baseball tops Mo Valley

Mount Union came to play in all facets of the game Tuesday and took care of business in just five innings with a 10-0 convincing win over the Moshannon Valley Knights in Inter-County Conference baseball action.

On the offensive side of the game, the Trojans scored all ten of their runs within the first two innings of the game.

Two of those runs came in the bottom half of the first inning as Vince Lear hit a sac fly to left to bring home Bryce Danish to give them a 1-0 lead. Then later in the inning, catcher Braylen Knable jacked a single to left field allowing Dayvon Wilson to score, extending the lead to 2-0.

But then the bats went off as Mount Union the following inning as the Trojans dropped eight runs in the frame. Mount Union went through the whole lineup within the inning.

Cameron Donaldson set the tone for the Trojans getting himself a single to left that brought home Klayton Willoughby. Wilson then drove in Danish with a single before Lear scored Donaldson with an RBI single.

Knable kept the momentum going for Mount Union with a deep shot to left for a two RBI double bringing home both Wilson and Lear.

Then Tyler Renninger hit a single to left that brought home Landon Chrisemer before a sac fly from Willoughby brought Renninger. Last but not least, Cainen Atherton drove in the eighth run of the inning with a single to center that scored Ian Brodbeck.

Danish was named the starter for the Trojans against Moshannon Valley. This was the freshman right hander’s first game on the mound on the varsity level. Danish showed no nervousness what so ever as he completely shut down the Knights’ offense.

Danish threw four straight one, two, three innings including an inning where he struck out the side. Danish had a perfect going but sadly lost in the fifth inning where Moshannon Valley managed to get an infield single to take the perfect game away. However, the Mount Union defense quickly made up for it with a game ending double play.
