MC 15 falls to Beekman, ending their season

MILROY – It was quite a run that ended too soon.

The MIfflin County 15-year old Babe Ruth All-Stars rolled through pool play, going a perfect 3-0 scoring 39 runs sending them to the Mid-Atlantic Semi-Finals against Beekman, New York Sunday.

It was a defensive duel from beginning to end as the two teams went to extra innings before a winner would be crowned.

When things settled down it would be the Bombers that would muscle out the win over the MIfflin County group 6-2 in eight.

Mifflin County was the home team in the afternoon as Logan Ruth started for the home team.

Beekman would get things going in the top of the eighth, posting four runs in the inning.

In extras, the Bombers notched four in the top of the eighth. Jordan Suarez singled to get things started. Pinch runner Lukas Csury came in to run.

Aidan Saurez followed with a walk of his own.

Lukas Csury moved up to third on a passed ball.

Richie Brown is intentionally walked, loading the bases.

Tristan Rivera singled to centerfield, scoring Csury, making it a 1-0 contest. A Saurez also scored. He scored on the throw in.

Casey Lowndes added to the score as he singled back up the middle, plating Brown, upping the Bombers’ lead to 5-2.

Rounding out the scoring was Christian Anderson notching an RBI single, putting the contest at 6-2.

Unfortunately for the “Blue and White” they couldn’t come back from the deficit.

In the first, Beekman got the scoring started.

With one out, Tyler Brochu walked.

Tristan Rivera singled to keep the inning alive sending a shot to left, putting runners on first and second.

The Bombers scored Brodchu on the Lowndes hit, making it a 1-0 lead.

Mifflin County tied things in the bottom of the second.

Landen Haigh got things started, roping a double to lead off the inning.

He later scored on a Beekman error on an Evan Strohecker grounder to second, tying it at one.

Mifflin County would get runners on base but couldn’t get the runs they needed early.

The Bombers added a run in the top of the third.

Mifflin County would tie things once again, posting a run in the fifth as Reese Christine would score.

Both defenses took over as the game went into extras.

The Bombers had the last say, posting four in the eighth and sending them into the finals against Broomall Newtown.
