By BRIAN CARSON

HIGHLAND PARK – The poor shooting of Mifflin County coupled with the hot hand of Jake McGinnis lifted Hollidaysburg to the 40-31 non-league victory on Monday, spoiling senior night for the home team.

The Huskies shot just 26 percent from the field, including 1-for-14 from three. The Golden Tigers (1-4) fared little better except for McGinnis, who finished with a game-high 24 points and nine rebounds.

Hollidaysburg took control of the game in the fourth quarter. With the score 24-20 in favor of the visitors, the Golden Tigers iced the contest with a 16-11 fourth quarter, led by McGinnis and his 10 points.

The game started with both teams icecold from the field. McGinnis poured in seven points as Hollidaysburg won the quarter 9-4. Mifflin County (1-6) cut the deficit to 17-14 at the half with a 10-8 second frame. Jayden Jackson had two baskets, with Ty Felmlee and Owen Wise scoring a bucket.

The Huskies suffered an enormous blow in the third quarter when starter Tyler Metz went down hard and hurt his ankle. He had to be helped off the court and could put no weight on his injured left ankle. The quarter was a lackluster affair, with Hollidaysburg winning the frame by a 7-6 margin.

Mifflin County shot a dismal 29 percent from the line on 2-for-7 shooting. The Golden Tigers were 6-of-9 from the charity stripe for a 64 percent mark.

Felmlee led the Huskies with eight points, five coming in the fourth. Jackson had six points and seven rebounds. Jace Shoemaker returned to the lineup and collected four points and four boards.
