MC girls XC team splits meet against Juniata and Williamsport

The Lady Huskies Cross Country split their last race of the season at Thursday night‘s home meet. They defeated Juniata 15-50 but fell to Williamsport 35-20. This race was really important for the girls to test where they are at as we head toward Districts next Saturday. I reminded them that they have plenty of time to recover and to go out and run hard, pushing their limits to see what they could do.
Amilia Coffey was 1st for the team and fourth overall posting her best time of the season. I think it was a great confidence booster for her. She went out fast and did well at holding on throughout the race. Ava Kratzer was second for the team, sixth overall. She looked confident and was close to her PR from a couple weeks ago. Kahlen McCracken continues to excel and matched her PR from last Saturday’s race.
Numerous of the other girls had season bests and PR’s. In order for them to do that, they need to be willing to take risks and be uncomfortable. They did that well tonight and it showed in the results. Next week we will put a little more work in but balance it with making sure their legs are well rested. Our goal is to run their best at Districts on Saturday, October 28.
Scoring for the Lady Huskies:
Amila Coffey- 21:21
Ava Kratzer- 23:07
Kahlen McCracken- 23:52
Alexis Anderson- 24:21
Caroline Palopoli- 24:33
