MC track and field opens indoor season at Franklin and Marshall Invite

The Mifflin County Indoor Track and Field opened the indoor season Saturday at the Franklin & Marshall High School Invite #1 in Lancaster. Forty-eight teams were present from Pa, Maryland and Delaware.

“We were happy with the performances the boys and girls had today. This early in the season, we’re glad to be able to get out and compete. The goal is to run, jump and throw their best, setting times and distances to be improved upon in the season,” said MIfflin County coach Tamara Sechler. “We have a lot of new kids that have never competed in a track meet or an indoor track meet. They took on the challenge of a long day with an early start and still gave their full effort in making their initial marks for the season.”

Some of the veteran athletes were able to start the year with top 8 performances at the meet. The boys 4 x 800 relay of  Caden Bell, Tylor Druckemiller, Isaac Parks Gill and Carter Smith  captured a  first place finish in 8:37.53 at the beginning of the meet. Other place winners were:

Myka Simmons 3rd place 60m dash 7.79 seconds

Carter Smith 7th place 400m 53.33 seconds

Danielle Warfel 6th place 400m 1:05.04

Myka Simmons 200m 6th place 23.33 seconds.
