MIFFLINTOWN – In a rare Saturday morning home game, the Juniata Indians hosted non-conference foe Midd-West in a Snyder County versus Juniata County match up.

Midd-West’s Becca Yount had the strong showing in the early show, posting a hat trick while leading her team to a 6-2 win over the Indians.

Both teams were very physical from the start and both were having their difficulties with the wet field conditions.

Before the halftime got underway, the Lady Mustangs scored again.

In a battle at the goal area, Yount notched her first goal off of a Chloe Sauers’ pass in front of a huge groups of players battling at the goal.

When the intermission got underway, the mustangs held a 2-0 lead.

Juniata came out of the break ready to go pushing the ball up the field and started to find the opening to get the ball past.

“I think the biggest thing is for us to stay mentally engaged the whole game. We played good in the first half and we were connecting good passes offensively,” said Juniata coach Laresa Paden. “We were playing our feet. We were running to the ball. But sometimes I think we need to get just one or two touches. We’re doing the right thing going forward it’s just that last tough or two  and setting yourself up a better chance to get the shot off.”

Juniata speedster Ashlynn Pannebaker got her team on the scoreboard as she broke free an sent a blast through the Midd-West net at 31:38, closing it to a 2-1 contest.

But less than a minute later the Mustangs extended the lead back to two.

Rachel Keister got open an smoked an unassisted goal at 30:58.

Yount added her second goal shortly after that to give her team some breathing room on an unassisted, at 23:58.

But the Indians refused to go down with out a fight when Haley Mummah scored for the Indians second score of the game at 16:42.

Midd- West’s Emily Bickel gave her team more cushion on a goal at 11:13.

Yount notched her hat trick and the last goal of the game thanks to an unassisted at 3:21, ending the contest as a 6-2 victory for the Mustangs.
