MIfflin County 12Us open with win over Centre County; finishes second in tournament

Rival Counties met early Saturday morning as the MIfflin County 12U all-stars went up against the Centre County Predators All-Star team at Legendary Frank Pupo field.

MIfflin County was led by the strong plate performance of Reese Christine who posted two long blasts over the fence as well as a total of five RBIs on the night.

Christine went yard with a 3-run and a 2-run home run.

Other multiple hitters for MIfflin County were Evan Strohecker and Logan Ruth, who both had two each.

Ruth also picked up the save while Chase Leister got the hard fought 10-8 victory for the “Purple and White”.

Centre County was led at the plate by Eric McAllister who picked up three singles and three runs scored and an RBI.

Teammate Matt Kusty hit a late 2-run homer in the fifth to pull his team to within one to add to the tension late.

MIfflin County led things off with two in the first when Evan Strohecker reached on a error in left.

With a mighty swing of the bat, Christine blasted a shot that cleared the fence easily, making it a 2-0 contest.

Centre County opened their part of the inning with two of their own.

With one out, Conner Perry blasted a solo shot of his own.

McAllister followed with a single to right and stole second and third on his way to stealing home, tying things at two.

After holding MIfflin County scoreless in the second, Centre County added two more in the bottom of the inning.

Trey Damshoulder led the charge as he walked and then scored on a triple by Lincoln Miller.

Miller then scored, making it a 4-2 contest.

MIfflin County came roaring back in the third inning.

Cam Guss led off the inning with a walk as did Strohecker.

Madden Weaver singled in Guss to cut the Centre County lead to one.

Christine steppes to the plate and sent an opposite field screamer over the right field fence, making it a 5-4 MIfflin County advantage.

Ruth would score after a single and an RBI single by Peyton Kearns, making it a 7-4 lead going into the bottom third.

Centre bounced back with two in the third, making it a nail biting 7-6 MIfflin County lead.

In the fifth, both teams added two and went into the final at bats with a 9-8 MC advantage.

In the sixth, again the MIfflin County squad was able to add an insurance run while its defense kept the Predators scoreless to take the victory.

With the victory, MIfflin County ran the gambit through the tournament but ran into a tough Upper Adams County team, placing second in the tournament.
