Mifflin County baseball wins in walk off fashion over Cedar Cliff
After a tough come from behind attempt fell just short Tuesday, the MIfflin County baseball rallied to even its record to 2-2 on the year, gutting out a hard fought 4-3 victory.
Landen Eichhorn notched the victory for MIfflin County.
The Huskies had a flare for the dramatics as they broke open a tie in the bottom of the seventh to capture the 4-3 home victory.
Going into the seventh, the game knotted at three, Landen Eichhorn walked.
Xavier Smith was intentionally walked by the Colts, putting runners on first and second.
Madden Weaver put down a bunt single allowing Eichhorn to score on a Cedar Cliff error to put another “W” in the Huskies win column.
With the win, Mifflin County evens its record to 2-2.
Cedar Cliff opened the scoring in the top of the second.
Mifflin County tied things in the bottom of the second.
With one out, Jayden Smith got the inning off and running with a single.
Caleb Smith singled over Smith to third.
Tucker Gill hit a fly into right field to send Smith home safely.
Offensively, the Colts added another run in the fourth.
But the Huskies refused to allow Cedar Cliff to keep the advantage as they posted another run in the fourth as well.
Again it was Jayden Smith who started the rally. Smith posted a single into center.
McKnight notched yet another RBI as he doubled in Smith, knotting it at two.
Easton Lepley singled in McKnight to take its first lead of the ball game, 3-2.
In the fifth, the Colts tied the game at three, setting the scene for the dramatic Mifflin County victory.
Jayden Smith and McKnight both led the offense for MIfflin County, posting three hits each.
