District 6 Championships – Day 2
May 15, 2024
Our team continued to succeed on the second and final day of districts. On the girl’s team, we had 3 of our athletes and all three relays on the podium. Liberty Cook (800, 7th), Tai Ematat (High Jump, 7th), and Adalyn Parson (High Jump, 8th-tie) contributed to the team score in their individual events. On the boy’s team, we are sending 5 of our athletes on to the PIAA State Track and Field Championships next week.
The 4×800 relay of Caden Bell, Wyatt Kauffman, Tylor Druckemiller and Carter Smith placed second at the meet, running a state qualifying standard time of 7:59.61.
Myka Simmons is heading to States in both the 100m and 200m dash. He placed third in each of these highly competitive events, earning two spots in the state track meet with times of 11.01 and 21.82.
Carter Smith had the highlight performance of the day for the Huskies by winning the 800m run in a record-breaking time of 1:52.61. Carter managed to break the meet record, facility record and school record with this time.
Also contributing to the team score were Michael McNitt (110 Hurdles, 7th and 300 Hurdles, 5th), Wyatt Kauffman (400, 5th), Tylor Druckemiller (800, 5th), Isaac Parks Gill (800, 7th), Reese Cubbison (3200, 5th), Koy Aurand (3200, 7th) and Ethan Plank (Long Jump, 6th).
We are very proud of all of the athletes on the team. Everyone worked as a team to build each other up and move towards meeting their individual goals.
