Mifflin County track and field sweeps Central Dauphin

LEWISTOWN – What better way to honor your seniors and for your final home meet of the season than with both Mifflin County boys and girls come out and be victorious against rival Central Dauphin in a Mid-Penn Conference track and field meet on Tuesday.

On the boys side, the Huskies defeated the Rams by the final score of 102-48. Mifflin County overall won 13 total events, three of those events were sweeps.

Senior Dillon Wert won multiple events during the match in the long jump going 20 feet and nine and a quarter inches. Then again in the triple jump reaching 42 feet and four and a quarter inches.

Fellow senior Dominic Reed placed first in the 110 meter hurdles with the time of 16.69 and then in the 300 meter hurdles at 42.78.

Josiah Sechler also won in different events as well starting in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.01 seconds. Then in the javelin throwing 179 feet and seven and a quarter inches.

Caden Kauffman, Caden Bell, Christophe Royer, Alex Price, Travis Renninger, Ty Small also came in first place in their respective events.

For the girls, the Huskies were victorious over Central Dauphin by the final score of 89-61. Mifflin County won 12 of the 18 total events for the afternoon. The Huskies took the top three spots in the 3200 meter run that included Kylee Cubbison who won the event with a time of 11:51.15. Justice Sheaffer came in second and Rosalyn Lansberry finished in third place for the event. Cubbison also won in the 1600 meter run at 5:23.25

Lyza Underhill won in multiple events starting with a 100 meter dash at 12.97 seconds and then also in the 200 meter dash at 26.90 seconds.

Lily Yoder came in first place during the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.40. Yoder also took first place in the triple jump going 32 feet and nine inches.

Bailey McNitt won the javelin, Sarah Kanagy placed first in the shot put, Addie Parson won the 800 meter run and Tai Ematat came in first place in the high jump.

It was senior night for the Huskies and at the end of the meet, Mifflin County got all 19 seniors together in Shaelyn Bagrosky, Hannah Bender, Zachary Bodley, Morgan Breon, Blin Cook, Kylee Cubbison, C.J. Gill, Isaac Hallock, Benjamin Hartzler, Levi Haubrick, Kauffman, Alex Price, Reed, Royer, Braden Sheaffer, Adin Thorpe, Robert Wagner, Dillon Wert, Lily Yoder and Colby Yoder.

Mifflin County boys (4-3) and girls (3-4) will look to keep the momentum going on Friday as the Huskies will travel to compete in the Altoona Mountain Lion Classic.
