Mount Union girls outlast EJ girls in OT

MOUNT UNION – It was a Saturday sizzler in Mount Union.

The East Juniata girls basketball team hit the road to battle Mount Union.

It would take five quarters to get things finally decided and in the end, the Lady Trojans would take the overtime victory, winning 48-45 in overtime.

Sara Brackbill had the hot hand for the Lady Tigers posting 21 points.

Landyn Cramer followed up her teammate with 10.

Mount Union’s offense was led by Cailyn Skopik who netted 15 points while teammate Maddie Dimoff was next with 14.

In the first period, Mount Union came out strong outscoring East Juniata 16-10.

The Trojans continued their strong offensive presence in the second, posting a 12-5 margin over the Tigers, taking the edge going into the intermission leading 28-15.

But East Juniata refused to go down without a fight.

Coming out of the break, the Tigers offense started to roll while it defense kept the Trojans out bay. East Juniata outscored Mount Union 15-9 in the period, cutting the lead to 37-30.

The offensive lead continued for the Tigers as they forced the game into overtime outscoring 13-6.

However, the comeback came up a little short as Mount Union battled back to score five in the overtime to secure the overtime win.
