Mifflin County Huskies sweep Husky Quad Saturday

LEWISTOWN- Parker Kearns had a very quick day in his Husky Quad performance Saturday.

Kearns recorded a pin in five seconds, a 1:18 fall and finally a pin in only 29 ticks for a total of body of work that equaled 1:52 mat time en route to helping his MIfflin County wrestling team to an undefeated 3-0 record on the day.

Mifflin County rolled to victories over Somerset (40-30), Biglerville (53-12) and Manheim Central (52-9).

In their first match of the day, the Huskies found themselves in quite a battle for their opener against Somerset.

Starting at 107, the Huskies won the first match when Andrew Alexander was in total control in his match over Carter Thompson winning by a major decision 9-0.

Picking up wins in the meet for the “Grey, Purple and Black attack”.

After a loss at 114, Jake Knable put the Huskies back on the scoreboard winning an 8-3 decision over Sam  Sheeler.

Mifflin County forfeited at 127.

Kamden Everly got the first pinfall of the day for MIfflin County pinning Drew Miller at 2:46 at 133 pounds.

One hundred and forty-five pounder, :Colby Seiler had a fast victory as he put Austin Dewitt on his back for the pin at 0:31.

Before anyone could even blink, Kearns took quick work over Brady Brewer pinning him in just 0:05.

At 160, Deakon Schaeffer had a very strong performance against Logan Baker winning by decision at 9-2.

At 172 and 189, Avery Aurand and Gavin Mickey both won by forfeit.

Mifflin County 53, Biglerville 12

LEWISTOWN- In their second match, the Huskies matmen were just heating up.

At 114, Paxton Shawver officially led off the match up with a pin over Cody Johnson 1:56.

Mifflin County also took a win at 121 as Jake Knable made quick work over Ayden Slaybaugh with a pin at 1:24.

Kamden Everly continued the Huskies run at 133 by pinning Brayden Pearce at 3:38.

Parker Kearns had his longest match of the afternoon topping  Cayden Oseen by pin at 1:18 at 152.

Deakon Schaeffer made it 2-for-2 at 160 pounds,  taking a very physical match against Aidan Hoffman winning by decision 8-3.

Reese Christine got his first win of the day in the 172-pound weight class as he pinned Landen Taylor in the third period at 4:54.

Avery Aurand used numerous early takedowns while allowing just two points as he won by a 13-2 majority decision over 189-pounder Mason Bishop.

Gavin Mickey added a win at 215 pounds battled early in his a match Jaden Jackson but was able to pull out the pin in the second period, winning at 3:23.

At 285, Truitt Davis muscled out a strong performance with a pin over Julian Diaz-Mendez at 1:38.

In the final contest, the Huskies 107-pounder Andrew Alexander got Kye Nelson down early and was able to control the momentum throughout, winning by major decision at 13-0.

Mifflin County 52, Manheim Cnt. 9

LEWISTOWN- With the match starting at the 121-pound weight class Jake Knable pinned Leo Bonanno by fall at 1:31.

Mifflin County took an easy win at 139 when Brian Albert lifted his hand in a win by forfeit.

Colby Seiler also won by forfeit at 145.  

Finishing in Lightning style, Parker Kearns pinned Cody Hess in just 0:29 at 152.

160-pounder, Deakon Schaeffer notched another major decision defeating Alexander Hondru, 14-4.

Things continued to work in the Huskies’ favor. At 172, Avery Aurand pinned David Thies at 1:04.

Heavyweight and 285-pounder Truitt Davis notched a second period pin over Daniel Gertler. The time of the fall was 2:37.

Andrew Alexander added to his 2-0 record, making his third victim Charles Logan. Alexander pinned Logan at 1:58 in the 107-pound weight class.

Rounding out the wins for Mifflin County was 114-pound Paxton Shawver as he pinned Jesse Miller in a first period win at 1:07.
