Penns Valley softball drops Hollidaysburg

Taylor Bumgardner was dominant in the circle, as they rang up 10 strikeouts in Penns Valley Lady Rams Varsity’s 6-2 victory over Hollidaysburg on Tuesday. Bumgardner surrendered four hits and two runs over seven innings while walking none.

Hollidaysburg opened the scoring in the third after Sydney Shay homered to center field, scoring two runs.

Hollidaysburg committed an error, which helped Penns Valley Lady Rams Varsity tie the game at two in the bottom of the third.

In the bottom of the fourth, Penns Valley Lady Rams Varsity broke up the tie when Elle Dinges singled, scoring one run. Then a single by Bumgardner followed to extend the lead to 4-2.

Maria Malone started in the circle for Hollidaysburg. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking none.

Haddley Stover provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Penns Valley Lady Rams Varsity with two runs batted in. Dinges led Penns Valley Lady Rams Varsity with three hits in four at bats.

Shay provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Hollidaysburg with two runs batted in.

The catcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Sophia Morris, Lexi Peacock, Shay, and Kiera Lightner each collected one hit for Hollidaysburg. Hollidaysburg turned one double play in the game.
