Robinson leads Trojans to victory!

By Joshua Yoder

MOUNT UNION – The Mount Union defense created a lot of havoc which were then turned to points as the Trojans defeated the Curwensville Golden Tide by the final score of 36-15 Friday night.

The Trojan defense held the Golden Tide to a grand total of 189 yards of offense. Quarterback Tyler Dunn was 15-of-30 for 137 yards that also included a touchdown pass but had thrown three interceptions. Cody McClain collected two of those three interceptions while Levi Hunsinger had the third.

But then the Mount Union offense turned those turnovers into points with all five touchdowns being scored by on JaSaun Robinson. Robinson carried the ball 17 times for 76 yards with four rushing touchdowns. Robinson also had five catches for 92 yards as well as a receiving touchdown.

In fact, Robinson compiled 168 total yards from scrimmage which was most of the 294 total yards of offense for the game for the Trojans.

However at the start of the game, Mount Union failed to get off the field due to offside penalties which allowed Curwensville to keep the chains moving. Eventually quarterback Dunn rushed for a 30 yard touchdown run. The Golden Tide then scored two points after taking advantage of another offside penalty by the Trojans.

Things didn’t start off well for the Mount Union offense either as the Trojans were force to punt on their opening possession. But then the momentum shifted as when Curwensville fumbled the punt and was quickly recovered by Mount Union.

Robinson made them pay for it as he scored on a five yard run and then Mount Union scored on the two point conversion to even the game at eight apiece.

From there on it was all Trojans as in the second quarter, Robinson scored a six yard touchdown run before finding the endzone again later on in the period with another touchdown run this one being 26 yards.

Mount Union came out firing on all cylinders in the second half as literally the very first play of the third quarter. Bryce Danish found Robinson deep wide open for a 57 yard touchdown pass.

The Golden Tide managed to find the endzone late in the quarter Dunn connected with Andrew Pentz with a 14 yard pass.

Robinson came back for more in the fourth quarter when he busted out a 16 yard run for the score.

Quarterback Danish completed 10 of 15 passes for 153 yards along with a touchdown pass and a interception.

Mount Union moves up to (2-1) for the season and will look to turn it into a win streak as next Friday the Trojans will be on the road to battle it out with rival West Branch.
