Schaeffer eclipses 1,000-yard rushing mark for second consecutive year, MC falls to McDevitt

The Mifflin County Huskies traveled  to 1 Crusader Way in Harrisburg to take on the Bishop McDevitt Crusaders.

The strong start for the Crusaders led them to prevail 42-0 shutout win over Mifflin County.

The Crusaders put up 28 points in the opening quarter two of the four touchdowns came through the air scoring both times was Rico Scott.

Maurice Barnes found the endzone to put the first points on the board scoring on a one yard touchdown that took just four plays.

It was bad luck for the Huskies in their first opportunity to get the ball. Unfortunately for the Huskies the ball would be muffed and the Crusaders’ Leon Parson recovered it at the Mifflin County 22-yard line. Saunders connected on a pass to Nevan Hopkins for a 18-yard play down to the Mifflin County 4-yard line.

Saunders would find Scott for the four yard touchdown pass to extend the lead 14-0.

Jontai Quick and fellow teammate Gage Ruth would all find the endzone through the air from the arm of Saunders.

Barnes found his way to the endzone twice in the win once in the first quarter and finding the endzone again in the second quarter.

Mifflin County couldn’t generate much on offense, the biggest play of the game came late with 13 seconds remaining in the first quarter.  Landon Eichhorn connected with running back Deakon Schaeffer for 15 yards. Schaeffer gave a spark on special teams tonight having some big kick off returns. Gianpaolo Pannizzo made a big catch while being hit hard and still hung onto the ball fifteen yards were added onto the play for a personal foul on the Crusaders on Defense despite giving up 42 points it all came in the first half .

Mifflin County held Bishop McDevitt scoreless in the third and fourth quarter.

Jacob Kratzer picked off Saunders with 1:04 remaining and Jordyn Daly applied the pressure.

In the third quarter Kratzer had some great tackles in the game and so did many of his teammates.

Travis Renninger had two Tackles resulting in loss of yards.

Renninger gave the Crusaders a hard time in the second half.

Trevor Miles didn’t make it easy for The opposing team to come down with the ball.

Miles defended the pass well. Owen Gipe,Cody Ort ,Fletcher Wilson, Landon Haigh, Adan Daubert, and Michael Mcnitt all had tackles tonight.

The Huskies fall to Bishop McDevitt 42-0 Mifflin County Huskies travel To West Shore Stadium to take on the Red Land Patriots Next Friday to Look to stay alive in the Postseason Mix.

Bishop McDevitt will travel to play Lower Dauphin next Friday. Schaeffer posts back to back 1,000 yard seasons.

“It’s special.  It’s back-to-back seasons now it’s my senior year. Nice thing at the end of the year is to give credit to the offensive line and credit to the team and everyone that worked as hard as I did give credit to everyone.”
