Seniors Finish Stellar Regular Season Victorious over Line Mountain. Both teams honor and celebrate lead official Rebecca Trunzo in her final game after decades of devotion to field hockey that started on Memorial Field 55 years ago.

In the pouring rain, the Lion’s prevail once again on Memorial Field to strongly close out their regular season with a team win against Line Mountain. The first two quarters saw the ball go back and forth between the teams, each not finding a way to capitalize. State College’s Molly Schreiner stood tall in goal, making diving saves to stop any Line Mountain shots dead in their tracks. In the third quarter, the Lion’s began to find their footing and went back to the basics to gain control on offense. Finally, after another scoreless quarter, a ball sent from Sydney O’Donnell found its way to Olivia Miller’s quick stick and right past the goalie. State College overall dominated offensively. Seniors Phebe Herlocher, Leah Moyer, and Sierra Grande led the team with a combined 10 of State College’s 16 shots. Schreiner earned another shutout.
Tonight’s game marked one extra special event, the retirement of lead official Rebecca Trunzo. Her field hockey career began on Memorial Field 55 years ago as a player. Both teams came together with the officials at the end of the game to take a group photo celebrating Mrs. Trunzo and all that she has done through playing, coaching, officiating field hockey, especially in the State College community.
The Lion’s complete their regular season with a record of 12-5-1 and are headed to the District 6 Championship Game Monday night 6:30 PM on Bald Eagle’s Alumni Stadium vs. Mifflin County.
