State College Field Hockey tops Carlisle in OT thriller

State College won 2-1 in overtime at Carlisle Wednesday afternoon. Both teams combined for 39 shots on the day, most coming in the second half. Carlisle’s Alexis Brea scored the 1st goal after a scramble in front with 2:53 to go in the 3rd quarter. State College then marched down the field with sustained offensive pressure in the 4th. State College’s Olivia Miller collected an offensive rebound, with a pull back and lift over Carlisle’s Macenzie Muholland to tie the game with 9:04 left in the 4th quarter. State College kept up the pressure sending the game into OT. Each team had opportunities in overtime. 6 minutes into OT, State College earned 2 penalty corners. On the second, Leah Moyer emphatically hit the back of the boards after collecting a bouncing pass from Phebe Herlocher to send State College to victory.
