State College girls uses 3-point shooting to top Chambersburg

STATE COLLEGE -The State College girls mixed a high tempo transition game and strong 3-point shooting night to outlast Chambersburg Friday night 55-44.

With the win, the Little Lions reached the .500 mark.

Leading the charge on the night was Jordyn Steindl with a 16-point effort.

State College also got a double-digit effort from Carly Donnell who posted 13.  Twelve of those points came from beyond the arc.

All-in-all State College finished with seven triples in the victory.

Things started as a back-and -forth contest.

Chambersburg opened the game on a 3-0 run.

With one flick of the wrist by Steindl tied the contest with a triple.

The Trojans took back the lead on their next trip down court when Allison List tossed in a triple of her own, upping the lead to 6-3 advantage.

Donnell hit her first triple to tie the game once again.

With the triple, the Lady Little Lions heated up to end the opening period on a 8-2 run making it a 14-8 lead.

In the second the Trojans opened the period closing the State College lead to three on a triple by List, making it a 14-11 contest.

But the quarter belonged to State College as they started to turn up the tempo and clamped down hard defensively to go into the intermission with a 12-point advantage at 30-18.

Going into the third, State College continued to build onto their lead posting a 14-8  advantage in the period and a 44-26 lead.

Despite a hot shooting quarter by the Trojans who ended the game on a 17-4 run, the Little Lions held onto for the 55-44 victory.
