State College takes victory over Williamsport

State College High School Varsity took the lead late and defeated Williamsport 7-5 on Monday. The game was tied at five with State College High School Varsity batting in the top of the seventh when TJ Yoder doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

State College High School Varsity earned the victory despite allowing Williamsport to score three runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by Williamsport was led by Berry and Murray, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Williamsport fired up the offense in the second inning, when Signor singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Sam Janik was the winning pitcher for State College High School Varsity. The hurler allowed four hits and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one.

Burks was on the hill for Williamsport. The pitcher surrendered three runs on four hits over five innings, striking out four. Vollman and Berry entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

Jack Messina started the game for State College High School Varsity. The ace lasted four and a third innings, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out five

State College High School Varsity totaled nine hits. Yoder, Janik, and Drew Moerschbacher each racked up multiple hits for State College High School Varsity. Yoder led State College High School Varsity with three hits in four at bats.

Berry went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Williamsport in hits. Williamsport didn’t commit a single error in the field. Taylor had the most chances in the field with six.
