Sweet 16! Juniata softball blanks UD

 

Sweet sixteen!

The Juniata softball team found themselves in a defensive contest against Upper Dauphin Monday.

But having a pitching phenom and a highly talented defense to back her was all that the Indians needed taking a hard fought 2-0 victory.

With the win, the Lady Indians improve to 16-1 overall.

Liz Gaisior finished with yet another one hitter. In the process, the Juniata hurler added 17 strikeouts to her 1,000-plus career total.

The Indians’ offense came alive in the third inning as they scored both runs.

Lexi Frontz and Gaisior both finished with two hits and an RBI each in the victory.

Sailing through the first three innings, Gaisior would help her cause in the team’s third.

Regan Lowrey opened the inning reaching on an Upper Dauphin error.

Gaisior sent a blast into left field scoring Lowrey on the hit.

Gaisior was caught trying to steal second.

But Frontz blasted a solo shot to give her team a little breathing space.

From there, that would all the visiting Indians would need as they held onto the victory.
