The Juniata Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams Battle Mifflin County, but Comes up a Little Short

The Juniata Indians boy cross country team took a close loss against Mifflin County 31 – 28 while defeating Susquenita 26 – 31.  Juniata’s junior Logan Strawser took the overall win with a time of 16:32.  He was followed by freshman Joey Bomberger in 4th place with a time of 18:00.  Freshman Wyatt Stroup finished right behind in 5th place with a time of 18:10.  Senior Micah Fausey finished in 14th with a time of 20:08.  Freshman Charlie Telfer rounded out the scoring for the Indians with his 21st place and a time of 23:38.  Senior Noah Sheaffer placed 24th with a time of 25:10.  Juniata’s Coach Jeff Miller said “I thought the boys ran very tough today despite coming up a little short.  They are hitting season best times with a little over a week until the District 6 Championships.  We just need to rest up and they should be at their best come Districts.”
The Juniata girls cross country team took a close loss against Mifflin County 30 – 25.  Susquenita did not have enough runners to score as a team.  Senior Emily Houtz led the Indians with her 5th place overall in a time of 24:39.  Freshman Jessie Bomberger came in next with a 6th place finish and a time of 26:18.  Sophomore Haley Mummah placed 8th in a time of 27:30.  Sophomore Elizabeth Gaisior ran 27:56 for 10th place.  Sophomore Peyton Sheaffer rounded out the scoring for the Indians with her 11th place finish in a time of 28:36.  Senior Joceline Telfer placed 13th with a time of 39:00.  Juniata’s Coach Jeff Miller said “The girls ran very competitive today.  I was pleased with everyone of them.  I hope they all learned a little about how to run this course since we will be competing here again in a little over a week at the PIAA District 6 Cross Country Championships.
The Juniata boys and girls cross country teams will compete next at the PIAA District 6 Championships in Reedsville on Saturday, October 30th.
