13 Bellefonte athletes sign letters of intent for next level of their athletic career

BELLEFONTE – The success of a high school athletic program isn’t only measured by what are done on the playing but also what their athletes do when the are in the classroom.

Wednesday at the Bellefonte high school, 12 Red Raider athletes announced that they were taking their athletic and academic skills to the collegiate level.

Kicking off the event was first signed, Alex Ebeling. 

Ebeling will be continuing his baseball career to Pittsburgh- Johnstown.

The Senior also played basketball and was a member of NHS and FBLA.

He was a first team Mountain league all star outfielder 2022. D6 baseball champions 2021, 2022 and finished 140+ community service hours.

University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown.

Cross Country and Track and field runner Chase Ebeling will be a member of the Penn College Cross Country next year.

Some of Ebeling’s accomplishments were making it to states for cross country 3 years in a row and this past year he placed 28th at states.

Bellefonte football player Caleb Frazier will be heading to Huntingdon to play for an up and coming Juniata College team.

Frazier also participated in basketball, wrestling and boyscouts, He is a member of the Order of the Arrow and an Eagle Scout.

Bellefonte multi-sports standout,

Dominic Capperella will be playing baseball at Mount Saint Mary’s University.

Capperella has been apart of the baseball and football teams for four years and the basketball team for three. Also, he has been apart of a handful of clubs including National honor society, Spanish honor society, student council and newspaper.

Swimmer Finley Musser will be back in the pool next season, swimming for PennWest Clarion.

She was also involved with softball , NHS, and FFA

Musser was a member of the Honor Roll and Mountain League All-Star.

Next up, Gabby Deitrich signed with Penn State Harrisburg where she will compete as a member of the track and field team.

Deitrich was also a member of the

Volleyball team Key Club and Senior Institute.

She was a Mountain League all-star for three years and the field MVP.

Lady Raider softball player Haylie Rimmey will be back on the diamond next year as a member of Clarion University.

Rimmey was the Co- editor of the yearbook, member of National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society.

Teammate Josselyn Nau will also be playing softball at the next level. She will be heading to Penn State Altoona.

Gymnast Landon Simpson will be heading to the Main Campus at Penn State as a member of the gymnastics team. In his free time Simpson was a member of FFA and NHS clubs.

He was recognitionally known as he was a US Championship Bronze Medalist and US Championship qualifier.

Last but not least he was a 4-time State Champion.

Joining Frazier on the Juniata College football squad is Logan Williams.

Williams has be a member of the lacrosse team and Ski Club. He was also a member of the National Honors Society.

Another softball player taking the jump to college is Madison Melius.

Melius will have just a short drive to play as she signed to be a Loch Haven University student.

She was a very active student as she participated in softball , volleyball, Bocce Ball, FBLA, Mock Trial, NHS, Student Council, Class Cabinet 2023 and Raider Revolution.

Golfer Sydney Hamilton will be taking to the links next year as she also will be heading to Lock Haven.

Hamilton also was a member of the girls basketball team. She was also a member of NHS.

Rounding out the day, Wesley Badger signed his letter of intent to play football at Saint Vincent.

He also was a member of the lacrosse team.

He was a member of the Honor roll.

He was a 2x varsity football letter winner and 2x varsity lacrosse letter winner.  Badger also was an All-Mountain League linebacker honorable mention.

According to Athletic Director Deb Moore, this was one of the largest group of signees that she has had in her tenure.
