Altoona tops Lady Huskies in season opener
In its first game of the season, the Mifflin County Girls soccer team fell to a tough Altoona Squad 4-1.
Altoona got the scoring started when Darrian Berkheimer scored just 30-seconds in.
Teammate Lauren Keiser Upper the score to 2-0 at 6:39thanks to an assist Cassy Kyle.
The Mountain Lions scored again when Katie Aveni scored on an unassisted goal at 10:06.
MIfflin County’s Aubrey Strohecker scored on a penalty kick at 23:50.
Rounding out the scoring Altoona’s Morgan Sarver hit a late one for an insurance goal.
Altoona outshot Mifflin County 15-8 and in corners by a 9-2 margin.
MC’s Bailey McNitt had 11 saves while Altoona’s Julia Lane had 7.
MC 0-0/ 0-1 next game 9/5 @ Central Dauphin East
In JV action, Altoona won 1-0.
