Penns Valley falls to Central Martinsburg in double OT

The Penns Valley girls soccer team gave it all it had Tuesday forcing Central into double overtime before falling 3-2.

“It was unfortunately one of those games that we shouldn’t have lost but ultimately we did not do enough to win the game.  We’re still not playing our best but we created enough chances today to get a result.  We just weren’t clinical enough in front of goal,” said Penns Valley coach Andrew Beverly. “And credit to Central as they took advantage of their chances.  But in the Mountain League there is no time to dwell on the last result cause the next game comes right away and the league has grown these past few years and every game is going to be tough.”

Central’s Alyssa Bartley tied the contest at one at 27:12.

Bartley put the Lady Dragons ahead on an unassisted goal at 71:49

However, Hannah Montminy talent the game into overtime when she caught a pass from Lovallo at 79:26.

Unfortunately for the Rams, Tori Longnecker gave the Dragons the win with a game-ending goal at 102:30.

Penns Valley led in shots by a 26-8 margin.

The Rams also led in corner kicks by a 6-2 advantage.

Penns Valley’s record is now at 0-2with our next game on Thursday vs Bellefonte.
