Bald Eagle girls battle and come out 3-1 victory over Red Raiders

The rivalry that is Bellefonte/Bald Eagle was back and in full force as the girls took center stage and added another chapter in the long and distinguished meetings between the two.

In this episode, Bald Eagle outscored Bellefonte 3-1.

Both teams had two corner opportunities each while the Bald Eagles led in shots by a 12-8 margin.

Bald Eagle goalie Angelina Grieb finished with seven saves while the Lady Raiders picked up nine saves for Bellefonte.

Bald Eagle led off the scoring on a Falen McHenry unassisted goal at 10:45,

Bellefonte tied things at one on a Kerri Shutika goal at 14:17.

In the second half, Bald Eagles’ Abby Hoover scored on an unassisted goal of her own at 49:18.

Late in the game, Grace Wagner’s unassisted goal secures the win for the Bald Eagles.

“We looked a little flat in the first half but we regrouped at halftime and the girls really picked up the pace and did the little things well in the 2nd half,” said Bald Eagle Area Coach Jared Moore. “That made the difference.”

Bea record is 4-2-1 overall, 3-2-1 in the Mountain League.

Bea next game Saturday 10/3 @ St. Joe’s.

In JV action, Bald Eagle won in a 3-0 decision.

The BEA goals came from Sarah Thompson, Khloe Cunningham, and Katie Snyder (pk).

Bald Eagles’ JV record  improves to 3-0-2.
