Bald Eagle girls outlasts Hollidaysburg in thriller

WINGATE – This one had high drama written all over it!

Thursday the Bald Eagle Area girls hosted new Mountain League foe Hollidaysburg at Alumni Stadium.

After falling behind early, the Lady Eagles battled back and kept pace with the Golden Tigers the entire contest.

With time running down the two teams found themselves tied at three.

Leading the offensive charge for Bald Eagle Area was Falen McHenry who finished with a hat trick and an assist.

At the 74:33 mark, Bald Eagles’ Heather Leskovansky picked up a pass from Falen McHenry and send home the game-winning goal, giving her team the 4-3 victory.

“What an intense game tonight. The girls play outstanding. Every time we got down they found a way to come back,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Jared Moore. “Falen was so dynamic tonight scoring a hat trick with 2 breakaways and a free kick. When they tied it up late I was so impressed with how the girls kept their composure. Fal took that free kick and put it right on Heather’s head and Heather put it right in the back of the net. This was a whole team effort win tonight. From the front to the back. This is a great momentum building to finish out the season and make our push into the playoffs.”

The Tigers opened the game with a goal at the 13:09 mark of the first.

McHenry tied the game off of a pass from Heather Leskovansky at 15:04.

Just minutes later, Hollidaysburg stole back the lead at 19:25.

The Golden Tigers took the lead going into the intermission, 2-1.

But early in  second, McHenry and company was able to tie again on a

McHenry blast that was scored off of a pass from Heather Leskovansky.

McHenry put her team up for the first time in the contest on a Free Kick at 45:48,

The Golden Tigers tied the game at 72:06.

But the night belonged to the Eagles when Leskovansky hit a shot off of a pass off by Falen McHenry at 74:33.

Hollidaysburg led in corners by a 6-0 advantage but the two teams tied with shots on goal at 13.

BEA goalie Angie Grieb collected saved 10.

BEA Record: 7-7-1 overall, 7-4-1 mountain league
