Bald Eagle girls start off week with convincing win over Tyrone

Warming up for the home stretch.

The Bald Eagle girls soccer team took care of buisness by defeating Tyrone 5-1 on Monday showdown of Mountain League foes.

“We had a tough time finding our rhythm this afternoon, but they finally hit their stride. We pressured the ball well tonight and force some mistakes and were able to capitalize. Alex Hacker’s brace was what got us started,” said Bald Eagle coach Jared Moore. “Falen’s brace and Khole’s goal sealed it in the second half. I thought Cadence Stem was outstanding tonight. She moved out of the defensive back line and was able to intercept balls and start a lot of offensive drives.”

In the first half Bald Eagle took the lead early on an Alex Hacker goal from an assist by Falen McHenry at 32:05. Hacker finished one off herself on an unassisted goal at 38:56.

The Lady Eagles went into the intermission leading 2-0.

Tyrone came out of the break and cut the lead in half at 43:10.

BEA battled right back when McHenry posted an unassisted goal of her own.

Khloe Cunningham scored her first goal of the game off an assist by Maura Cingle.

McHenry put the game on ice with her goal at the 79:00-minute mark.

The Eagles had the advantage in shots on goal by a 16-9 margin and bested the Eagles 7-0 on corner opportunities.

Bald Eagle Area goalie Angie Grieb finished with 8 saves.

BEA improves to 8-7-1 overall on the season and 8-4-1 in the Mountain League.

Next Game: 10/20 vs Huntingdon, Senior Night.
