Mill HALL – Heading to the big show!

After being rained out the day before, the Bald Eagle Area softball team had to wait almost 24 hours before joining their baseball team in heading to District 6 PIAA State Championship.

Bald Eagle pitcher Sierra Albright pitched another gem tossing a shut out, striking out 16 and allowed three hits as the Lady Eagles topped South Williamsport 4-0.

The game was closer than the score projected as the Eagles found themselves in a scoreless tie going into sixth inning.

Offensively, the Eagles picked up all four runs in the sixth.

Kailey Eckert got the sixth started with a Bang! She led things off with a triple to left.

Lexi Baney singled her in to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage.

Sydney Thompson kept things going as she singled, moving Baney to second.

Power hitter Ava Stere blasted a double, scoring Baney and moved Thompson to third.

Alyssa King gave the Eagles some insurance runs as she belted a single into centerfield, scoring both Thompson and Stere, making it a 4-0 advantage.

Albright would take it from there, striking out 4-of-6 and scattered two fly outs en route to the victory and a Thursday visit to Beard Field.
