Bald Eagle tops Mount Union for second time this season, takes D6 Class AA crown

CRESSON – To beat a Mount Union baseball team once in a season is hard to do. Beating the Trojans twice in a season is darn near impossible.

But don’t tell that to the Bald Eagle baseball team as they had Mount Union’s number Tuesday, defeating the Trojans 11-5 in the District 6 Class AA contest.

During the regular season, the Eagles outlasted Mount Union in a 1-0 10-inning thriller.

Tyler Serb picked up the victory for Bald Eagle as he gave up 12 hits and five runs en route to the victory.

Leading the offensive punch were Tayten Yoder and Justin Bisel who all posted two hit outings.

However, Mount Union opened the contest going ahead early 4-0.

But it did t take long until the Eagles retaliated.

In the second, the Eagles battled back to post four of their own to knot the score at four.

He scored on a Cam Watkins double, cutting the deficit to three.

Watkins scored via a single by Kahale Burns, cutting the Mount Union lead in half.

Yoder blasts a 2RBI double to knot the game at four as the teams head into the third.

Mount Union went down 1-2-3 in the third.

But the Eagles offense was just getting started, adding another run to take the lead.

Bisel singles to start the bottom of the inning.

He would later reach home on a Kaden Burns’ RBI single.

Bald Eagle continued to build the momentum, plating two more in the fourth.

Highlighting the inning was a Yoder 2-run home run, extending the Eagles lead to 7-4.

By the end of the inning, Bald Eagle Area would add yet another taking a 4-run advantage into the fifth.

The Eagles defense held the Mount Union offense in check in the fifth as well.

Bald Eagle would outscore the Trojans the rest of the way 3-1 en route to capturing the D6 title.
