Bellefonte 10U offense leads team to victory over PO

BELLEFONTE – The Bellefonte 10U all-stars came out strong against Philipsburg-Osceola, plating seven first inning runs and never looked back as they defeated the Mounties 13-2 in a 4-inning contest.

The Mounties showed though that they weren’t going down without a fight as they broke up a no-hitter and shut out with 2-outs in their last at bats.

Bellefonte pitcher Holden Howard went the distance tossing a 1-hitter while allowing just two runs and nine strikeouts.

Bellefonte was led offensively by Brady Tomco who finished with two hits and three RBIs. Others picking hits were Bruce Jennings, Howard, Brayden Grove, Elijah Robinson, Chase Hall, Aiden Swentosky Traevon Confer and Ryan Lucas.

Philipsburg-Osceola’s hit came from Jonah Foley as he hustled out an infield hit and an RBI.

In the first, the Raiders got things going offensively.

With one out, Grove singled to right. He stole second and moved up to third on a wild pitch.

Connor Heeman followed with a walk.

Grove scored and Heeman moved up to second on a second PO wild pitch.

Tomco singled in Heeman on a sizzler into right field.

Swentosky followed with a single of his own.

Bruce Jennings loaded the bases as he reached on a walk.

Coley Price’s patience at the plate proved to pay off as she notched an RBI walk, upping it to a 3-0 lead.

Confer roped a 2RBI blast into centerfield, increasing the lead to 5-0. He then scored via a wild pitch.

Price would also score.

Howard, who was batting for the second time in the inning, reached via a walk as well.

When the dust settled, Bellefonte held a 7-0 advantage.

Howard sent Philipsburg-Osceola down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning.

Bellefonte added a run in the second.

Tomco scored on an RBI fielder’s choice by Jennings.

Again, Howard was tough on the Mounties batters in the second, sending 3-of-4 down with an out.

In the third, Bellefonte got its offense churning again as it plated five more runs. Highlighting the inning were consecutive 2-RBI singles by Hall and Tomco, making it a 13-0 shut out.


Going into the fourth, the Mounties were down to their last out.

Aiden Meersand was hit by a Bellefonte offering.

With two out and Meersand on base teammate Griffin White was also hit by a pitch.

Foley hit a slow chopper to second and was able to beat out the throw. Meersand scored on the play, ending the no-hitter and shut out.

White later scored when he stole home to end the scoring at 13-2.

Bellefonte got the last out, ending the game.
