Bellefonte boys soccer tops Juniata in home victory

BELLEFONTE – Thursday night the Bellefonte boys soccer team found themselves in a very physical battle as they were able to hold onto a very tight 1-0 win over visiting Juniata.

“Tonight’s game was a playoff type game. Juniata put some pressure on our defense late and they held up well. We had some good open looks at the goal just couldn’t finish tonight,” said Bellefonte coach Scott Martz. We had three games this week I guess it caught up to us. Overall, it was a really nice hard fought game.

The lone goal in the contest came from Bellefonte at 29:12 when Wertz found the back of the net for the eventual winning goal.

The Red Raiders led in shots by a 13-9 margin.
