Bellefonte Lady Raiders Defeat Philipsburg-Osceola Mounties in Laurel Highlands showdown

The Bellefonte Lady Raiders softball team was victorious against Philipsburg-Osceola 8-6 on Friday.

The Lady Raiders opened the scoring in the first after an error scored one run.

Ashlynn Havens singled, which helped the Mounties tie the game at one in the top of the second.

Bellefonte made the score 5-1 in the bottom of the second after Madison Ripka doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Ragan Manning doubled, scoring two runs.

The Mounties scored two runs in the top of the third on a home run to right field by Alivia Bizzarri.

Philipsburg-Osceola jumped into the lead in the top of the fourth when Emily Gustkey doubled, scoring one run, and Bizzarri singled, scoring two runs.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Bellefonte went back into the lead after Manning doubled, and Jaylee Lose singled, each scoring one run.

Carley Clarkson earned the win for the Lady Raiders. The righty surrendered zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking none. Bizzarri took the loss for the Mounties. The starting pitcher went six innings, allowing eight runs (four earned) on six hits, striking out nine and walking four. Alaina Smith led things off in the circle for Bellefonte. The starting pitcher allowed 10 hits and six runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking one.

Manning drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Lady Raiders with three runs batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-4 on the afternoon. The Lady Mounties amassed 10 hits in the game. Bizzarri drove the middle of the lineup, leading Philipsburg-Osceola with four runs batted in. They went 2-for-4 on the day. Havens set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the Mounties with three hits in four at bats. Gustkey collected two hits for Philipsburg-Osceola in four at bats.

Bellefonte will travel to Huntingdon  for their next game on Monday.
