Big Valley 10Us stay alive, defeat Bellefonte at home

REEDSVILLE -It was the fight to stay alive Friday night as the Big Valley 9-10Us went up against Bellefonte in the lower bracket of the District 5 10U playoffs.
Bellefonte won the coin toss to take the home spot.
From there, the Big Valley offense took over taking a 4-0 advantage after one inning and never looked back.
Big Valley limited Bellefonte to just one hit going into the sixth inning.
In the top of the sixth, Big Valley used patience and hustle to post an11-run inning en route to the 20-
Victory.
Seven of the nine Big Valley starters had at least two RBIs on the night.
Starting pitcher for Big Valley, Reece Bell finishes with seven strike outs in just 2 1/3 innings of action.
His replacement on the mound, Chase Hartung was just as effective, striking out four without allowing a hit.
Bellefonte would get it’s only hit from Lincoln Dubin. Dubin also had his teams only RBI as well.
Leading the way offensively for Big Valley were Carter Smith (3-for-5, 3 runs, 2RBIs), Chase Hartung (3-For-3, four runs, 3 RBIs), Gavin Powell (2-for-3, three runs, 3RBIs) and Dekker Pietzsch (2–for-5, three runs, 4RBIs).
In the first inning, Smith led off with a single to left.
Chase Hartung brought in Smith with a smoking double into the corner of left, making it 1-0.
Powell followed with a double of his own, scoring Hartung on the play.
For the third time in a row, Big Valley got another double, this one by Pietzch to up its lead to 3-0.
Pietzch was able to reach home via two fielders choice plays, giving them a comfortable 4-0 advantage.
Bell sent down Bellefonte 1-2-3 in the first, all of which were strike outs.
Big Valley picked up where they left off in the first, plating two more runs to extend the lead to 6-0. Scoring in the inning were Thad Gerwick and Kooper Walters.
In the bottom of the inning, Bell sent the side down in order once again on just 11 pitches.
Bellefonte held Big Valley scoreless in the third, keeping the deficit at six.
Bell struck out his seventh and final out before being taken out for teammate Hartung.
The transition was seamless as Hartung sent down the team in order to give the momentum back to his offense.
Big Valley added two more in the fourth, giving them an 8-0 lead.
After plating a run in the bottom of the fifth, Bellefonte ran out of steam, as Big Valley posted an 11-run sixth to give its last pitcher of the evening, Carter Smith, an easy final three outs for the 20-1 victory.
