East Juniata Defeats Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Behind Strong Performance From Kolten Martin

Kolten Martin was dominant on the hill, as they rang up 12 strikeouts in East Juniata’s 6-2 victory over Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy on Monday. Martin gave up six hits and two runs over six innings while walking one.
The Tigers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Martin tripled, and Kelton Bonnell walked, each scoring one run.
East Juniata added one run in the second after Martin walked.
The Tigers added one run in the third. Owen Messimer grounded out, making the score 4-1.
The Wolfpack scored one run in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run to right field by Luke Duckworth.
Duckworth took the loss for Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy. The starting pitcher went two innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on one hit, striking out two and walking four. Bonnell collected the save.
Martin and Bonnell were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for East Juniata. Martin and Bonnell were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for the Tigers.
Duckworth led Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Arthur Welsh went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Wolfpack in hits.
East Juniata welcomes Line mountain on Tuesday for their next game.
