Trevor Johnson’s Strong Eye Leads Bellefonte Past Clearfield Bison

Trevor Johnson showed a strong eye at the plate on Monday, as Johnson walked three times while leading Bellefonte to a 12-1 victory over Clearfield.


The Red Raiders won thanks in part to nine runs in the first inning.  Braedyn Kormanic grounded out, scoring one run, Josh Brown doubled, scoring one run, Oliver Thornburg singled, scoring one run, Jacob Corman singled, scoring one run, Ethan Tomasacci singled, scoring one run, Johnson singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Kormanic singled, scoring one run.

Bellefonte added one run in the third after Kormanic grounded out.

Kormanic earned the win for the Red Raiders. They allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking none. Elijah Quick took the loss for the Bison. They went two-thirds of an inning, giving up nine runs (seven earned) on seven hits, striking out none and walking one. Tomasacci threw one inning of no-run ball for Bellefonte in relief. They gave up zero hits, striking out one and walking none.

Bellefonte tallied 11 hits in the game. Thornburg and Corman were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Red Raiders while hitting back-to-back. Kormanic drove the middle of the lineup, leading Bellefonte with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Johnson paced Bellefonte with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game.

O’Brian Owens led the team with one run batted in. Christian Welker went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead the Bison in hits.

Bellefonte welcome DuBois on Wednesday for their next game.
