East Juniata tames the Buffaloes

In Tuesday Tri-Valley League action, the East Juniata boys topped Newport 48-31.

The Tigers were led by Tanner Barth’s 15 points while teammate’s Wayne Dressler and Owen Dressler finished with 15 and 11 points, respectively.

Newport took the first lead of the game outscoring the Tigers 11-8.

East Juniata’s defense took center stage in the second, holding the Buffaloes to seven while its offense had 11.

Going into the half, East Juniata held a slim 19-18 advantage.

Both teams battled to a stalemate in the third, both posted 11.

Going into the final stanza, East Juniata still held the one-point lead.

But the Tigers got hot when it needed to, outscoring Newport 16-10 en route to the victory.
