Gingrich shines with 26 in loss to Altoona; MC falls
MIfflin County battled all night with a tough Altoona team in a game that wouldn’t be decided until the final quarter.
But unfortunately for the Lady Huskies, the Mountain Lions outscored MIfflin County down the stretch by a 21-11 margin en route to the 74-57 victory.
One bright spot for MIfflin County was a coming of age of freshman Marissa Gingrich who finished with a 26-point effort.
Teammate Kate Knable and Hanna Rittenhouse finished with a 13-point and 11-point effort, respectively.
Altoona was led by Caranda Perea who posted a game-high 27 points.
Helping the Lions out in the win were Adalyna Cherry with 21 points and teammate Adaliz Corbin with 14.
The game was a barnburner from the top off as the two offenses stole show as Altoona took an 18-15 advantage into the second.
Altoona started to spread out the score as it outscored MC 21-13.
When the buzzer sounded to end the first half, Altoona led 39-28.
MIfflin County came out with a spirited effort coming out of the intermission, outscoring the Mountain Lions 19-14.
Going into the final stanza, Altoona held onto a 53-42 advantage.
But the Lady Lions were able to hold onto the lead as it defeated MIfflin County.
