Hershey bound; Harris, Cubbison lead four MC runners to compete in PIAA state championships

Hershey here they come!

Brayden Harris and Kylee Cubbison led the Huskies cross country runners as they finished second and third respectively in the District 6 Class AAA championship held at Reedsville.

Both will be heading to the PIAA State Championships in Hershey.

Joining them will be Chris Royer and Addie Parsons.

Harris finished with a time of 15:51.20 while Royer posted a 16:52.00.

The team finished third overall in the boys’ side and second for the girls.

Cubbison finished with a 19:05.10 while Parsons topped out at 20:04.40.

“The boys had an awesome day,  qualifying Brayden and Chris for states, having all seven running season best times and just missing second place overall by a few points,” said MIfflin County coach Greg Loht. “We were expecting Brayden to be in the top three. He ran a smart race and ended up second.  Chris pulled out the stops today, breaking the 17:00 barrier for the first time and punching his ticket to Hershey.  CJ, Cameron, Caden, Ben and Dylan all ran their hearts out. I emphasize running our best when it means the most and that’s what they did today!”

MIfflin County’s girls coach Jennifer Freed was just as impressed with her team’s performances.

“It was a great day to race,” said Freed. “Obviously, we are happy to have Kylee return back to states again and have her be joined by Addie. So it’s an exciting time. We still need to work on some things and tweak things for states on Saturday. It will be a race like they’ve never run before. “

The foursome will be back in action Saturday at Hershey.
