Huskies fall to veteran CD squad in softball action

The Mifflin County Huskies softball team couldn’t keep up with Central Dauphin and fell 14-3 on Thursday.

The Huskies opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two home runs. Mifflin County first got on the board when Riley Hine hit a solo home run to left field.

Central Dauphin took the lead, 5-2, in the bottom of the third thanks to home runs by Allie Wenrich, and Stella Gasper.

Central Dauphin scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kayla Fletcher hit a grand slam to right field, and Wenrich homered to left field, scoring two runs.

Brie Lock earned the win for the Rams.

The starting pitcher allowed six hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking one. Piper Specht took the loss for Mifflin County. They went four and one-third innings, allowing 12 runs (eight earneel) on 10 hits, striking out two and walking three.

Hine, Dakota Hershberger, and Alaina Sharp each drove in one run for the Huskies. Hershberger went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Mifflin County m in hits. Mifflin County   turned two double plays in the game.

Central Dauphin piled up 12 hits in the game.

Wenrich provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Lady Rams with six runs batted in. They went 3-for-4 on the day.

Wenrich and Gasper hit multiple home runs for Central Dauphin. Fletcher, Maddie Paul, and Gasper each collected multiple hits for CD. The Rams were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Paul made the most plays with four.

Next up for Mifflin County is a game against State College on Monday.
