Juniata Athletes Shine in TVL All Stars

MIFFLINTOWN – The Juniata Indians collected 11 selections in the Tri-Valley League All Stars for boys soccer, girls soccer and volleyball.
Leading the charge for the Indians was the lone selection in volleyball in senior Lexi Frontz who was not only voted in unanimously, but was also named the league MVP. Frontz led the TVL in kills with 165 during league play. Frontz was also tied with teammate Sarah Royer in digs with 71. Frontz was also among the league leaders in aces with 27 and also collected 88 service points.
Juniata was also rewarded with five selections to the TVL All Stars in boys soccer.
The first was senior Avery Portzline who was named to the first team as a forward. Portzline was second in the league in scoring with 47 points. Portzline also had 19 goals and nine assists.
Next on the list is sophomore mid-fielder Ricky Guante who was named to first team. The sophomore was among the league leaders in assists with six.
The last first team member for Juniata was defender J’Diel Xoumphonphackdy.
The final two selections for the Indians came in the form of junior mid-fielder Anderson Portzline and defender Drew Bennett who were both named to the second team.
Juniata also had five selections in girls soccer as well with leading the charge senior defender Abigale Berrier who was the only person to be voted in unanimously.
Berrier wasn’t the only one to be named to the first team as teammate and fellow senior Haley Mummah was placed on first team as a mid-fielder.
Junior forward Regan Lowery was named to the second team with 10 goals and three assists.
Freshman Sara Montoya made a great first impression as in her first year on the varsity level was also placed on the second team as a mid-fielder.
Last but certainly not least sophomore defender Mallory Garver was named to the second team.
